Car history: |
When the big blue general minted this 1969 Corvette, the Stingray shark would become one of the most widely popular production styles and model years ever made and certainly the most popular C-3. The wartime boom economy of 1969 delivered plenty of servicemen requiring the most suitable transportation available in the Summer of Love, so when Corvettes design team gleaned inspiration from Americas interplanetary pursuits, Chevrolet mustered this timeless American icon with Detroit muscle making us dream big and fast. This factory issued convertible is LOADED with just about every desirable option available on the now legendary 1969 Corvette Stingray: factory four-speed, A/C, power steering, power brakes and the timeless side pipes have never made 1969 sound so sweet to be sure! EXTERIOR: The new two stage lacquer paint has been buffed to a mirror-like finish revealing brilliant definition on a straight body. To prevent overspray, all lights and trim including the mirrors, door handles and locks together with both door panels were removed for the painting process. This shark is from the Western U.S. and has a solid frame for it. The weather strip looks to have all been replaced at various times and is soft to the touch. The brand new 245/60/15 BF Goodrich Radial TA tires look great on the original style factory issued rally wheels and finish the Stingrays look handsomely. The spare tire carrier remains appropriately tucked away and looks fine. Muscle never sounds so good as with the beautiful chrome Hooker Header side pipes: the created sound effect of side pipes heard in the video is magnificent and the look is unmistakably classic. One has to feel it in person to fully appreciate the effect that only can be compared to a modern day Viper. We love the sound and look as did the former owner who installed them and we hope you do too! The chrome has been replated around the car as necessary and looks shiny on otherwise straight bumpers. INTERIOR: The beautiful interior has received recovered seats, door panels, dash and new carpet. The avionic like style gauges still look great and remain functional (we had the distributor driven tachometer recently serviced with a new brass gear.) The original stereo still looks good and will be wired up properly before delivery unless he/she should desire a custom autosound aftermarket stereo. The original shifter with positive lockout reverse and the original steering wheel create the original look and feel of the cockpit. The original stereo remains in place with its original knobs. The rear compartment doors are functional but no longer work like new. The seat belts have new webbing. This interior is about as close to the 1969 moon landing as any of us will ever get. MECHANICAL: The rebuilt 350 cubic inch 350 horsepower motor lays beautifully detailed in the motor compartment and runs strongly still harnessed to the factory four-speed transmission. Both the water pump and the alternator have been replaced recently. The radiator is clean and has been replaced. The entire front suspension was disassembled, detailed and painted in satin black with the installation of new replacement a-arm bushings. The rest of the bushings are in fair condition and the car rides great with new tires. The former owner was a performance nut and liked to keep the car very cool, hence the electric fan (which cleans up the motor compartment nicely!) The A/C will need a new evaporator and condenser. (We can service the system to make it blow cold for an approximately additional $900). All of the brakes have been rebuilt/serviced in the recent past including calipers rebuilt as required. This shark is a strong runner that gives you butterflies behind the pedal. (Please forgive the mis-shift "ginding" in the video). C60 Air Conditioning, G81 Positraction Rear Axle, J50 Power Brakes, M20 4-Speed Manual Transmission, N40 Power Steering, PU9 F70x15 White Letter Tires, Nylon, TJ2 Front Fender Louver Trim, U79 AM-FM Stereo Radio. $22,900.
